Adopted Girl Takes First Steps at Age 5

By January 16, 2014Pediatrics

Madeline was adopted from China and lives in Southern California now. She is 5 years old, and when she first came to Bright STAR she wasn’t able take any steps on her own and wasn’t able to get up from the floor by herself.

Madeline had a very hard time taking steps; she has never walked with a walker prior to trying it out with us. She is taking 5-7 steps unassisted and is getting stronger. She was a little scared and withdrawn at first. Now she knows everyone’s names and is very happy and outgoing. She started school.

Here is Madeline with her new walker!
